She works regularly with various support agencies and training partners to maintain a safe and productive learning environment for all Gosport College students.

There is a wide range of professional support available for students from specialist staff in one-to-one and group support sessions.

Financial Help & Welfare

The College has a range of financial support schemes for students depending on their personal circumstances.

Financial support is dealt with on an individual basis. Assistance may be available for course fees, childcare, travel costs, course materials or to help in an emergency.

Travel Support

There is a free Gosport College minibus service to help students travel between the College sites and get involved in exciting enrichment activities available on the Fareham College Campus. At Gosport College we want all young people to have the chance to learn skills, gain qualifications, and progress on to great opportunities at university or in work. Every student living more than walking distance (around 1 mile) from the College is entitled to support with transport.

Where there is evidence of extreme financial hardship, students may receive travel support. The College looks at every case individually to ensure that travel costs are not an obstacle to students attending Gosport College. For more information call 01329 236 997.

Advice & Guidance

Our Student Services Team has a wealth of experience in advising both current and future students on a variety of issues, including course choices, careers and welfare.

Tutorial Support

Each student has a Personal Tutor whose role is to provide support and guidance throughout their time at college.

This support is provided in two ways:

  • Through one to one meetings with the Personal Tutor who will monitor progress, address any difficulties and provide appropriate support.
  • Through group tutorials where students meet with their Personal Tutor and Tutor Group and discuss matters of general importance and interest.

Personal Tutors will also keep in touch with parents/guardians to keep them informed of their son or daughter’s progress. This is to help address any issues that may arise and if required, offer additional support.

Learning Support

The additional Support Team provides support to students on all courses and at all levels, in class and on a one-to-one basis. The Team supports students who may be in need of additional help with their studies. A range of support is offered, including English, Mathematics and study skills.

Specialist tuition is also available for students with specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia and dyspraxia. We can also support students who are hard of hearing and have visual or physical impairments. Specialist assistive technology and equipment is available to support students in their studies.
