Level 2 Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET)

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade D or above or a Level 1 qualification in motor vehicle studies.

Course Details

This course is ideal if you would like to work in the Motor Vehicle Industry. There are 6 generic and 6 specialist MET units where you will develop knowledge/skills in:

  • Health, safety and good housekeeping
  • Supporting job roles in the automotive work environment
  • Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices
  • Skills removing/fitting Mechanical, Electrical and Trim components

You will be encouraged to find a work placement to gain garage experience one day a week.

Next Steps

After this course you will be prepared for a career in theMotor Vehicle Industry. You could also progress to the Level 3course in MET or continue studying on an apprenticeship scheme. Jobs could include mechanic in a garage or auto repair workshop, agricultural machinery repair/maintenance, Armed Forces (transport), roadside recovery officer and more.
