Level 2 Football Coaching (Activity Leadership)

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade D or above.

Course Details

This practical course is suitable for students requiring a more active style of learning. The technical syllabus will include coaching sessions on: football fitness, passing, shooting, turning, receiving the ball, dribbling, running with the ball, and heading. You will also look at how to coach phases of play and functions of play in attack and defending. Course units include:

  • Preparing a series of coaching sessions
  • Maintaining an environment in which participants can improve performance
  • Coaching participants to improve
  • Evaluating and developing coaching sessions and personal development
  • Dealing with accidental emergencies

All sports students have the opportunity to complete a Level 2 Stewarding Award through Southampton Football Club (subject to funding).

Next Steps

Progress on to a one year Level 3 Diploma in Sport or a two year BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma.
