Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at grade D or above. Good standard of football ability and an interest in a career in the sports industry.

Course Details

This course will give you the opportunity to develop and expand your skills in Football and Coaching. The course units include:

  • Preparing a series of coaching sessions
  • Maintaining an environment in which participants can improve performance
  • Coaching participants to improve
  • Evaluating and developing coaching sessions and personal development
  • Dealing with accidental emergencies

You will also gain certification in Strength and Conditioning in Sport (football related) and Principles of Coaching. You could also have the opportunity to study for a Level 1 FA Coaching Award, FA Child Protection and First Aid.

All sports students have the opportunity to complete a Level 2 Stewarding Award through Southampton Football Club (subject to funding).

Next Steps

If you are successful you could go on to study a one year Level 3 Diploma in Sport or a two year BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma.
