Entry requirements

You will be expected to have at least 2 GCSEs D-E and a keen interest in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.

Course Details

If you want to start a career in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy, then this course is an ideal starting point. You will get a good grounding in how things work in a salon, as well as learning a wide range of basic hairdressing and beauty skills. You will learn about the hair and beauty sector, how to present a professional image in a salon, shampooing and conditioning, styling hair, nail care and nail art, skin care, dressing hair, basic make-up application, face painting and plaiting hair. The course also involves some great enrichment and enterprise activities.

One or two salon uniforms and kits (depending on the course) are essential, plus text books. A list is available and students may purchase these through the College.

Next Steps

To prepare you for employment in a Hairdressing or Beauty Salon you will need to continue your studies with a NVQ Level 1 & 2 Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy (there is also a combination option).
